Aside from the game and setting itself, Cheek does a good job representing the Inter-Club Customs one can become from an MMO, likewise as the Griefer community.
Another adept sign of the book is that It kept me reading until I completed it in a single sitting, and I volition definitely go along with the series.
The sign of a good LitRPG is the desire to play in the game world after reading it. Cheek's "The World" certainly achieved that for me and makes me long for a time when FIVR/DDVR is possible.Aside from the game and setting itself, Cheek does a adept job representing the Inter-Social club Community i can become from an MMO, as well as the Griefer community.
Another good sign of the volume is that It kept me reading until I completed it in a unmarried sitting, and I will definitely continue with the series.
...moreThe story is pretty anticipated and linear. MC is OP equally hell. Never has too much of a challenge in progression of level. Survives due to plot armour which is quite thick.
Surrounding character development is ignored, world building is not focussed upon too much likewise.
Would recommend it in case you have nothing better to read on your monthly KU list.
The book is entertaining and it has a lot of rpg type talk and lingo so it seems similar it was written by a gamer. The action is good and the characters are interesting but the grudge carryover was just silly and tedious it seemed forced.
The writer has incorporated quite a lot of gaming jargon and uses familiar gaming mechanics as well as a very common RPG enemy, goblins. The entrance to The World has the protagonist trying to salve a camp of refugees beingness overrun past marauding goblins. Similar to Awaken Online in a way, but very different in many other ways. This is well worth a read.

...moreI accept been busting through my share of LitRPG books and I finally got to this one. I tend to lean toward series with at least 3 books in them.
This one was bully. I really enjoyed it.
Everything that I love in LitRPGs was present in this one (stats, questing, and more)
Already starting book two, looking forrard to information technology!
This is a great volume. I couldn't put it down. Bully characters with brilliant coaction between them and plenty of practiced geek references thrown in that made me chuckle.
Dearest this book. This is a great book. I couldn't put information technology down. Not bad characters with vivid interplay betwixt them and enough of good geek references thrown in that made me chuckle.
...moreNo offense to the author. Information technology merely needs work. This book wasn't set to be published. Information technology'due south in dire need of pro-editing. And the sentences are just besides long winded... Explanations and descriptions are too heavy. Information technology just doesnt book y'all fast enough.
No criminal offence to the writer. It just needs work. ...more
I like the anti-griefer ideal and the thought that there's no question the hard way is the right style for Startum! Looking forrard to the next book!
When tin I become the next one?
Loved information technology. Who wouldn't like a ride-forth with gamers who play in an out-of-the-box fashion, constantly testing and re-setting the limits of what you can achieve if y'all just requite information technology a effort? I felt like I was there. When can I go the adjacent one?

LOVED It....againCame across second and 3rd book in also recommend section on another book. They had skillful stars ratings, simply was surprised book one was lower. Subsequently reading reviews it seems some of the opinion that the author copied others. At the start it all felt familiar, but subsequently awhile realized I had read this book earlier. Little over a year ago I found LITRPG books and since I'm been off piece of work for some surgery I had been read in dozen of books. Back them I trusted Amazon to tell me well-nigh the next book. I now follow authors I like more closely and also effort to exit reviews. Then nearly the copying I feel most LITRPG are but one form of coping anyway, and I was quickly involved In A book I already read so I highly recommend. So g lad I constitute this author again. I expect in my history and I haven't read any other of the authors books. So glad to have two more than in this series, plus another series to try.
...moreI offset picked this book considering I read in the info that ane of Jason Cheek'due south influences was Aleron Kong, author of The Land series, that I absolutely loved. I got drawn in to The World considering Jason's very evidently a top notch gamer which he really displays in the technical and mastery MMORPG descriptions and strategies. I take actually learned some really good info to apply to my ain gaming! Allow me be clear though, this is not a technical how to play RPGs book, this is a fiction

I take actually learned some really good info to apply to my own gaming! Allow me exist articulate though, this is not a technical how to play RPGs book, this is a fiction novel with a great pb role. Startum is a adept guy that any of us would dear to have running our guild. Potent and smart, and doesn't put upwardly with the crap those ever abrasive PK campers love to dish out. I am on to book ii! I really hope some 24-hour interval I get a adventure to play in real life with Jason! I am always "Mommysrule" See you in the futurity! Maybe fifty-fifty in VRMMORPG!
...moreWhile there are some typos, the story is put together very well. The characters are well fleshed out, world building is practiced, as well as the pace. This is a great storyWhile in that location are some typos, the story is put together very well. The characters are well fleshed out, earth building is good, as well equally the pace. After seeing the 2d and tertiary books in the series a few weeks ago, I was looking for this one, and couldn't find it. Afterwards some cyberspace searching I found that it was removed because of Luke Chlemencko (?) flagging it for plagiarism. I read his series a few months back, and this accusation is total B.S. Other than being the same genre and involving a video game, there is nil similarity. I consider this a d!@& move on Luke'due south part. While his series was as well expert, I think this ane may be better. Good job Jason, fighting the adept fight confronting the griefers (Luke Syndicate? lol). Keep up the practiced work, and don't brand me wait too long for sequels. I'm glad this book got back onto Amazon.
...more thanWhen I went to post my review, I was confused at all of the controversy that seemed to be going on most the story. The series was splendid and I read all three books straight through. While there are similar ideas in the series similar all LitRPG books, the story is unique and told the story in its own unique way and is nothing like the other books discussed in some of these reviews. Can't await for the adjacent volume to come out!

Wow! LOVING this series so much because Jason is doing and playing so creatively and out of the box which is was always immune past DM who never wanted us to be "just" any ane dove holed character. If your a real gamer y'all will and so appreciate this serial, heck even a part time rpg gamer will get how truly heed blowing this story premise is. Not only some other mmorpg story so please people click and download! Hope y'all love it also!
...moreI started reading the story at work and couldn't put information technology down all day. I've already picked upward book two. Fifty-fifty though book one had to go through the mechanics of the game, it moved through all of that junk pretty quickly while keeping the story moving. Reading through the story reminded me of my own group of friends playing together online.
I went into reading this non knowing what people thought about this book. There are like ideas on this book like all LitRPG books but the story and how its explained is zip like the others. I loved it and have read all 3 books in two days. I can not expect for more.
I'thousand always skeptical when reading new authors, simply I was thoroughly impressed with Mr. Cheek. The fourth dimension he takes to flesh out his world and characters, granting real emotions to them is refreshing. Great job blood brother, looking forward to more than

I love how this series is starting out. Dandy action and interesting characters. My but matter is that information technology felt a little short.
As a long time gamer i establish all the explanations, stirring. I would have liked more story development. Otherwise this was an enjoyable read.
Story wise I enjoyed the fashion the MC becomes power leveled. I love a powerful MC dealing with "noobs" and more and so when it'southward a social club of PKers. It'due south rare that I happen upon a LitRPG series with multiple books already out. Commonly I swallow everything the second it comes out. And so it was nice to exist able to read this and continue on to the next one.Story wise I enjoyed the way the MC becomes ability leveled. I love a powerful MC dealing with "noobs" and more so when it'southward a guild of PKers. The story is fun and has some base building elements, I wish he would have focused more than on the Nightmare quests. As he has people dying back at his starting location, he obtained the cure spell and instead of saving them he'due south off galavanting doing raids.. but that'due south just me. Reading the second right now and looking forrard to the 3rd.
